US President Donald Trump has announced that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of Washington’s peace plan aimed at ending the war in Gaza.

“I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first phase of our peace plan,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

According to him, the agreement paves the way for the release of all hostages held in Gaza and the withdrawal of Israeli troops to agreed positions “as the first steps toward a strong, durable, and everlasting peace.”

“This is a great day for the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, all surrounding nations, and the United States of America,” Trump added, thanking mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey for helping to achieve what he described as a “historic and unprecedented event.”

Majed Mohammed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed Trump’s statement, noting that details of the Gaza deal would be released later.

He said mediators had announced that an agreement was reached on all provisions and mechanisms for implementing the first phase of the ceasefire in Gaza. The deal, he added, will lead to the end of the war, the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, and the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

Media reports suggest that the full peace agreement could be formally signed later today in Egypt.
