The Kano State government has announced plans to vaccinate over 3,261,525 children aged zero to 59 months in a renewed effort to prevent polio-related diseases across the state.

The Kano State Primary Healthcare Management Board disclosed this during a media dialogue held in collaboration with UNICEF and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency in Kano.

Speaking at the event, the State Logistics Officer, Habu Muhammad Takai, said the immunisation exercise will run for eight days.

He explained that trained “health workers will go from house to house to ensure that all eligible children are reached during the campaign.”

Takai called on parents and caregivers to support the exercise by making their children available for vaccination.

He stressed that “the oral polio vaccine is safe, effective, and critical to protecting children from the lifelong consequences of polio infection.”

He added that the campaign is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen routine immunisation and improve child health outcomes in Kano State.

According to him, widespread participation is key to eliminating polio and securing a healthier future for children in the state.
