The Lagos State Government has announced alternative routes for motorists following the two-week partial closure of the Kara Bridge outbound Lagos for repair works.

The Federal Ministry of Works said the maintenance, involving expansion joint repairs, began Tuesday, March 10, and will run until March 24, 2026.

In a statement by the Director of Public Affairs, Bolanle Ogunlola, motorists were advised to use designated diversion routes during the rehabilitation period.

Motorists from Third Mainland Bridge are advised to link Ketu to Mile 12, proceed to Ogolonto and Ikorodu Garage, then connect through Sabo Roundabout to Isagamu Road or Itokin Road to continue their journeys.

Those coming from Lagos Island are advised to link Ilubinrin to Ijora Bridge, access Eko Bridge to Funsho Williams Avenue, then connect Ikorodu Road through Ojota, Ketu and Mile 12 to Ogolonto, Ikorodu Garage and Sabo Roundabout to link Isagamu Road or Itokin Road.

Alternatively, motorists can proceed from Ikorodu Garage through Sabo Roundabout to Ogijo, continue to Likosi, then connect Shimawa to Lotto and Mowe to reach their destinations.

The state government said officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and traffic management signs would be deployed along the rehabilitation corridor and alternative routes to ease movement.

Motorists were urged to plan their journeys and cooperate with traffic officials to minimize disruptions during the repair period.
