The Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has inspected newly-imported rolling stock for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line project at the National Theatre Train Terminal, marking a significant milestone in the state's transportation reform efforts.

The arrival of the new coaches is set to enhance the efficiency and modernity of Lagos's rail services, bolstering the state's commitment to improving public transportation infrastructure.

The additional rolling stock will complement existing trains, aiming to reduce turnaround times and significantly cut travel duration for millions of residents.

On Sunday, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the new coaches will double the current capacity on the Blue Line, leading to faster and more reliable train services.

"With this new set, you will see a reduction in journey time, and a more reliable and predictable train experience on the Blue Line," he stated, highlighting the project's role in the state’s THEMES Plus Agenda.

The Blue Line rail project, executed by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), stretches from Marina on Lagos Island through Mile 2 to Okokomaiko, with stations along key corridors.

The project aims to provide a safe and comfortable commuting experience while advancing Lagos State’s transportation goals.
