The Lagos state government says it will be going hard against any developer or builder whose building collapses and endangers human life.

The state Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotosho stated this Monday on Nigeria Info’s The Newsroom.

He said the government is deeply saddened by Sunday’s building collapse at Oniru that claimed lives and will do everything to ensure those found wanting do not escape the law.

He also pointed out that the state government is expanding its building enforcement tentacles to ensure erring developers are easily spotted and prosecuted.

In the meantime, the Lagos State Police Command says it is yet to arrest anyone as a result of the building collapse.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin told Nigeria Info that it is yet to ascertain if the case is a criminal one as investigations are ongoing.

The seven-storey building that was under construction gave way on Sunday and killed six persons.
