Israeli giants Maccabi Haifa have signed Nigerian midfielder Peter Agba from Slovenian champions NK Olimpija Ljubljana on a three-year deal, with an option for an additional year.

The club unveiled the 22-year-old Kano-born player on Friday, following the completion of all necessary paperwork. It confirmed the move on its official Instagram page with the caption “Welcome Agba.”

Known for his skill, vision, and tenacity in midfield, Agba expressed delight at joining the club:

“I’m excited to start a new path in a big club like Maccabi Haifa, with an amazing stadium and huge crowd. I want to help Maccabi achieve her goals.”

Agba rose to prominence with Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets, winning the 2019 WAFU U-17 Championship in the Niger Republic after defeating Ghana’s Black Starlets on penalties.

He also featured in the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania, where Nigeria finished fourth, and represented the country at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil, where the team reached the Round of 16.

At the club level, Agba became one of Olimpija Ljubljana’s standout performers. He made 92 appearances, scoring three goals and providing three assists, helping the club clinch the 2024/2025 Slovenian PrvaLiga title.

His arrival adds further depth to Maccabi Haifa’s midfield as the Israeli champions seek to maintain their domestic success and improve their performances in European competitions.
