Nollywood actress and philanthropist Mercy Johnson-Okojie has been appointed Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Thursday in Benin by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Musa Ikhilor.
Johnson-Okojie, one of Nollywood’s most celebrated figures, has built a career spanning nearly two decades, featuring in over 200 films.
Over the years, she has earned multiple awards and nominations, including recognition at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
Beyond her success in the entertainment industry, she is widely known for her humanitarian work.
Through the Mercy Johnson Okojie Foundation, she has championed initiatives focused on women empowerment, child welfare, education support and healthcare outreach.
In her new role, Johnson-Okojie is expected to leverage her public influence, communication expertise and grassroots reach to enhance citizen engagement and strengthen public awareness of government policies and programmes across Edo State.
