The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has accused the Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, of serving as a minister while also doing the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

On Thursday, the association released a statement accusing the minister of abandoning her NYSC service in Ebonyi State.

HURIWA said Musawa later decided to complete her service and was mobilized for NYSC this year.

She was allegedly posted to a law firm in Abuja before being appointed as a minister.

The group wants the NYSC to make Musawa choose between her national youth service and her ministerial appointment.

HURIWA also expressed concerns about the level of scrutiny conducted by the Department of State Services on the ministers who were appointed this month.
