The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled its National Campaign Council for the 2027 general election, naming Ibrahim Abdulkarim, an ally of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as Director-General.
The 155-member council will be chaired by the party’s National Leader, Seriake Dickson, with Mr Obi serving as co-chairman.
The party’s National Chairman, Cleopas Zuwoghe, will serve as vice-chairman, while its vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, will be co-vice-chairman.
The party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Enekweizu, has been named secretary of the council, while former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, will chair the National Campaign Advisory Council and serve on the National Campaign Caucus.
Other appointments include Ovie Omo-Agege and Victor Umeh as representatives of the party’s Senate caucus, while Victor Ogene will chair the House of Representatives caucus.
The party’s National Woman Leader, Dudu Manuga, is also a member of the campaign council.
The NDC’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, will serve as Director of Media and Communication, with Ikeddi Isiguzo as deputy director. Constance Ikokwu has been appointed campaign spokesperson.
The party says the council will provide strategic leadership, coordinate campaign activities across the country and mobilise support for its political vision ahead of the 2027 elections.
It describes its planned campaign as people-centred and issue-based, with a focus on building what it calls a new, just and prosperous Nigeria.
The council is scheduled to be formally inaugurated in Abuja today, Monday, October 26, alongside the presentation of Certificates of Return to the party’s candidates and the commissioning of its new national secretariat in Jabi.
