The Nigeria Shippers Council (NSC) has unveiled its Digital Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS), a move aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency, and service delivery across the maritime and blue economy sector.

Speaking at the unveiling in Abuja on Tuesday, Dr. Pius Akutah, the Executive Secretary of the Shippers Council, described the ECMS as a transformative tool and a core pillar of the council’s digitalisation agenda.

He noted that the system would eliminate delays, manual file movements, and administrative bottlenecks that have hindered public institutions for years.

According to Akutah, the ECMS focuses on operations, workflow automation, information security, and improved service delivery — setting a new benchmark for Nigeria’s maritime regulatory space.

The system aligns with the Federal Government’s digital mandate, proving that a full digital transition is both achievable and essential.

Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, urged all federal agencies to embrace digitalisation, highlighting the ECMS as a model for improving internal administrative capacity, accountability, and operational efficiency.

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, called the launch a milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward a technology-driven maritime sector.

The NSC’s ECMS represents a major step in Nigeria’s maritime digital transformation, positioning the country for more efficient, transparent, and responsive maritime governance while supporting broader economic reforms in trade and port management.
