The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W. Shaibu, has announced key reforms aimed at transforming the Nigerian Army during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Annual Conference held on December 18 at Abalti Barracks, Lagos.
Highlighting the need to enhance professionalism and operational readiness, Lt. Gen. Shaibu pledged a comprehensive overhaul of training programs.
This includes revising school curricula and focusing on mission-specific training for Special Forces and Army Aviation units.
Addressing evolving security challenges, he emphasized strengthening intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and cyber capabilities, while calling for continued government support for military procurement and technological advancement.
On troop welfare, the Army Chief committed to completing ongoing housing projects, initiating new accommodations across all divisions, and advancing post-service housing schemes.
He invited stakeholders to the commissioning of the Affordable Home Ownership scheme for soldiers in Ibadan on December 19.

Lt. Gen. Shaibu praised the conference participants for their active engagement and assured timely implementation of the conference’s recommendations.
He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support, reaffirming the Army’s loyalty to the Commander-in-Chief and the Nigerian Constitution.
The conference was formally closed with a call for safe travels and upcoming events, including the Passing Out Parade in Osogbo on December 20.
