Nigerian Troops Repel Attack in Borno as Commanding Officer Dies in IED Blast

Troops of Sector 3, Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai have repelled an attack by terrorists in Monguno, Borno State.

The incident happened late on April 12 2026 at the Charlie 13 location.

The military said the attackers engaged the troops in a firefight but were forced to retreat as the soldiers held their ground.

However, tragedy struck when the Commanding Officer and six other personnel were killed after their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device while moving to assess the situation.

Operation Hadin Kai described the officer as a courageous leader who consistently led from the front.

The military added that the fallen personnel paid the supreme price in service to the nation and that their sacrifice will be remembered within the armed forces.
