Professor Wole Soyinka, Nobel laureate from Nigeria, is at the center of a storm over his recent remarks criticizing Labor Party vice-presidential candidate Datti Baba-Ahmed.

Professor Soyinka in an interview with Arise TV, condemned recent pronouncements made by Labour Party vice presidential candidate.

Baba-Ahmed  had earlier in a separate interview asked President Muhammadu Buhari and Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, not to be part of May 29 inauguration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose victory in the February 25 election he described as unconstitutional.

Soyinka however, described these comments as 'unbecoming' and said that such a "do-or-die attitude and provocation" is contrary to a democratic disposition.

Nigerians responded to his comments on Twitter shortly afterward. According to some, Soyinka cannot condemn Baba-Ahmed given his history

According to others, the professor was more angry about Baba-Ahmed's reaction than other abnormalities that occurred during the recent election.

According to some people, including former CBN deputy governor Kingsley Moghalu, Proffessor Soyinka's comments are being unfairly criticized

Femi-Fani Kayode, a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, agrees with the Nobel Prize winner.

According to him, his comments have confirmed their concerns and vindicated their position
