Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya to represent Nigeria at the inauguration of William Ruto.

He was received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by a former Governor of Kwale County, Salim Mvurya, and the Nigerian Ambassador to Kenya, Yusuf Yunusa.

Mr. Ruto will be sworn in Tuesday at Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi, as Kenya’s president.

He won the presidential election on 9 August, getting about 7.18 million votes or 50.49 percent, against the 6.94 million votes or 48.85 percent cast for his rival, Raila Odinga.

Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared him the winner on 15 August but his victory was challenged.

On 5 September, the Supreme Court upheld Mr. Ruto’s electoral victory.

Nigeria and Kenya, both former British colonies, enjoy good diplomatic relations.
