Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) have arrested three suspects in Abuja and Lagos for cyberstalking, identity theft, and online fraud.
The police revealed the suspects' identities as Gbenga Samuel, Dele Titus, and Olalekan Oke.
The suspects were involved in a large-scale digital impersonation scheme, the Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed in a statement.
On July 18, 2025, they hacked a victim's WhatsApp account, threatened to expose confidential data, and demanded a ransom of N3 million, the police said.
A detailed forensic analysis led to the suspects' arrests and the recovery of the account. Police say an ongoing organized crime operation was uncovered during the investigation.
