The Nigeria Police Force has launched an investigation into Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, for alleged unruly behaviour that reportedly disrupted a flight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Force spokesperson DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said on Tuesday that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) petitioned the police over the August 5 incident, which it says breached the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023.

According to the petition, KWAM 1 allegedly refused to surrender a thermo flask  suspected to contain alcohol  to aviation staff while boarding a ValueJet flight to Lagos. He reportedly escalated the situation by blocking the aircraft from taxiing.

Following the report, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, directed the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Airport Command to “commence a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances and ensure justice is served.”

The NCAA has already placed KWAM 1 on a no-fly list for six months and suspended the licenses of the flight’s captain, Oluranti Ogoyi, and first officer, Ivan Iloba. The musician has since apologised, saying it was never his intention to breach aviation protocols.

The incident has drawn heightened public interest after another passenger, Comfort Emmanson, was remanded in Kirikiri Prison for allegedly assaulting Ibom Air crew and security officials on a Uyo–Lagos flight.
