The All Progressives Congress (APC) says its presidential ticket for the 2027 general election is open to all qualified aspirants despite massive endorsement already gotten by President Bola Tinubu.
The party declared it would allow anyone who wishes to contest the primary election against the president, being a democratic party. Speaking with newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, the APC’s National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, said the party’s remarkable achievement in the just-concluded by-elections is an affirmation of the confidence Nigerians continue to repose in it.
He assured that the party remains dedicated to the welfare, security, and prosperity of the electorate. “The aspiration of the people would be the wish of the party," he said.
"As leaders of the party today, the NWC has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the next presidential candidate of the party. By extension, other organs have done similar things. Governments in most of the states, zones in most of the six political zones, have also adopted the same.
“But that does not mean that the door is closed. That does not mean that when the time comes, like we have always done, we’ll make our timetable known so that for anybody who wants to aspire to be the next president of this country, under the platform of All Progressives Congress, we’ll not deny him that opportunity to come and purchase form.
The National Organizing Secretary also revealed plans to schedule an interactive session with all elected Senators, members of the House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly members soon. He said the session will serve as a platform to share ideas and build trust.
