Real Madrid Officially Unveils Mourinho as Coach

José Mourinho has officially being presented as Real Madrid head coach, 13 years after ending his first spell at the Spanish club.

The Portuguese manager was formally presented on Tuesday at a private ceremony in the boardroom of Ciudad Real Madrid, with club president Florentino Pérez welcoming him back. 

Mourinho signed a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2029.

Mourinho was presented with a replica of the stadium, a watch and a Real Madrid jersey bearing his name. 

The club’s honorary president, José Martínez Pirri, also attended the ceremony.

Speaking after signing the contract, Mourinho described his return as a more emotional experience than his first arrival at the club in 2010. 

He said his second stint represents a “mission” and pledged to help the club build a culture based on work, responsibility and ambition.

The Portuguese also stressed his strong connection with Real Madrid and its supporters, describing himself as a “Madridista” and saying he has always considered himself one of them, even after leaving the club in 2013.

The manager’s return has already generated mixed reactions on social media, with some fans welcoming his appointment while others questioned whether his management style could lead to tensions within the squad.

Mourinho's immediate focus will now be on the new LaLiga season, with Real Madrid scheduled to begin their campaign against Espanyol on Saturday.
