The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced a nationwide strike scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
The decision was reached during an extraordinary National Executive Council meeting held virtually on Saturday, where members expressed concern over the Federal Government’s move to remove the Professional Allowance Table.
In a statement signed by Secretary General, Dr. Shuaibu Ibrahim, the association describes the decision as unfortunate and says it triggered the planned industrial action.
NARD is demanding the reversal of the policy, immediate payment of promotion and salary arrears, and settlement of outstanding 19 months’ professional allowance.
The association is also calling for the prompt completion of payments under the 2026 Medical Residency Training Fund.
NARD leadership has urged its members nationwide to comply with the strike directive, as it seeks resolution of the issues with the government.
