The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has commenced an investigation into the derailment of a Kaduna-bound train, which occurred at about 11:09 a.m. on Tuesday between Kubwa and Asham stations in the Federal Capital Territory.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Bureau confirmed that six passengers sustained injuries in the incident, while no fatalities were recorded.

It added that a response team was deployed to the crash site to secure evidence and liaise with relevant agencies as part of the investigative process.

The NSIB said the inquiry will examine both the immediate and underlying causes of the derailment, before making safety recommendations that will strengthen rail transport operations and prevent future accidents.

The bureau expressed sympathy to those injured and assured passengers and their families of continued support as the investigation progresses.
