Vice President Kashim Shettima has started a two-week vacation approved by President Bola Tinubu, marking his first official leave since assuming office in May 2023.
The Vice President’s media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, said Shettima would spend the period on personal study and reflection.
According to the statement, the leave would also provide an opportunity for the Vice President to review government programmes and prepare for upcoming responsibilities.
Shettima, who chairs the National Economic Council, has been involved in discussions on economic policies alongside state governors, the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor and other officials.
He has also represented President Tinubu at several international and regional engagements.
The Vice President is expected to resume official duties on or around August 20, 2026.
