Sen. Ibrahim Lamido, representing Sokoto East Senatorial District, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing internal divisions and leadership issues within the party in Sokoto State.
In a letter dated April 22, 2026, addressed to his ward chairman in Isa South Local Government Area, Lamido said his resignation takes immediate effect.
He said the decision followed what he described as a persistent internal crisis, marked by suspicion, lack of cohesion and unresolved disputes within the party’s state chapter.
Lamido said the situation had made it increasingly difficult for him to remain in the party in good conscience.
Despite his exit, the lawmaker expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve and contribute during his time in the APC, and wished the party well in addressing its internal challenges.
