Governor Charles Soludo has been sworn in for a second term at the renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, alongside Deputy Governor Onyeka Ibezim.
The inauguration, on Tuesday, drew Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, and several governors.
Soludo won the November 2025 election with 422,664 votes, sweeping all 21 local government areas.
His closest rival, the All Progressives Congress candidate Nicholas Ukachukwu, scored 99,445 votes, while the Young Progressives Party candidate Sir Paul Chukwuma came third with 37,753 votes.
At the ceremony, Vice President Shettima praised Soludo’s leadership, saying, “He has shown with uncommon elegance and courage what it means for a technocrat to submit brilliant ideas to the realities of governance.”
Soludo highlighted his administration’s achievements in security, health, education, infrastructure, and innovation.
“We took office with a promise to focus on the people left behind. Our first term laid strong foundations, and this second term is about building higher and delivering on our commitments,” he said.
The governor also called for unity and collaboration across political divides.
“Politics and elections are over. It is now time for governance and development. Let us join hands to build the Anambra of our dreams,” Soludo said, emphasizing that public service and stability would remain central to his second term.
The inauguration coincided with the 20th anniversary of progressive governance in Anambra State under the All-Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), celebrating continuity, development, and public partnership.
