Terrorists have kidnapped two travelers along the Katsina/Jibia highway in Katsina State.

The Wednesday evening incident happened around 5 pm according to witness accounts.

The spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident to Nigeria Info.

He identified the abducted persons as a 56-year-old man, Babangida Kachilo, and a 50-year-old woman, Halima Shuaibu.

He explained that the terrorists came on motorcycles and blocked the highway before kidnapping the victims.

“Bandits on motorcycles – we learned about two or three motorcycles – blocked the road and stopped two vehicles. One is a commercial vehicle and the other is a private vehicle,” he said.

“But the passengers of the commercial vehicle ran for their dear lives and abandoned the vehicle.

“This other vehicle – the private vehicle; the driver was stopped, and he was abducted, along with a woman.”

The police spokesman said the police are trying to ascertain if the abducted persons are blood-related.

He also told Nigeria Info that the travelers in the commercial vehicle came out of hiding after the terrorists left the highway.
