President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening global peace, stability and economic cooperation as he received Letters of Credence from 17 ambassadors and four high commissioners at the State House in Abuja on Thursday.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Tinubu stated that Nigeria remains committed to fostering partnerships that address shared challenges, including insecurity, climate pressures, economic instability, and humanitarian concerns.

“On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, I warmly welcome you,” the President told the diplomats.

“Your accreditation today reaffirms the depth of our bilateral ties and our shared commitment to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.”

He urged the envoys to maintain close engagement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He noted that his administration is focused on strengthening democratic institutions, driving economic reforms, and creating a more enabling environment for investment, innovation, and sustainable development.

“We encourage deeper engagements in trade, energy, agriculture, education, technology, defence cooperation, and cultural exchange,” he said.

“My doors are open and remain open for constructive engagements.”

Speaking on behalf of the diplomats, Japan’s Ambassador Suzuki Hideo said the envoys were honoured to present their credentials, describing the moment as historic.

He praised Tinubu’s economic reforms, security initiatives, and Nigeria’s leadership role in ECOWAS and Africa.

“Nigeria today stands as a beacon of resilience and promise,” he said.

Among the ambassadors who presented their credentials were representatives from Japan, Chad, Gabon, Türkiye, Palestine, Spain, Indonesia, Mauritania, Austria, Thailand, Bangladesh, Sweden, the Czech Republic, and Liberia.

The President also received high commissioners and ambassadors from Ghana, India, Poland, Italy, Slovakia, Iran, and Barbados.
