President Bola Tinubu will on Friday present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly.

The presentation is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., according to a letter issued by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamorudeen Ogunlana.

The letter, signed on his behalf by the Secretary, Human Resources and Staff Development, Essien Eyo Essien, said the president would formally lay the proposed budget before lawmakers at a joint sitting of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

It also announced heightened security measures around the National Assembly complex on the day of the presentation.

According to the notice, all accredited persons are expected to be at their duty posts by 11:00 a.m., after which access to the complex will be restricted for security reasons.

Non-accredited persons have been advised to stay away from the National Assembly on Friday, except for principal officers, including the Clerk and Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly, as well as the Clerks and Deputy Clerks of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

The letter further directed other members of staff to park their vehicles at designated spaces at the Annex or the new car park by the National Assembly gate.

The budget presentation marks the formal commencement of legislative consideration of the 2026 fiscal estimates.
