Driving a car knackered or damaged by bad roads is not an excuse readily accepted by officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

Olabisi Sonusi, Sector Public Education Officer for the commission gave this warning while speaking with Mary-Ann Duke Okon on Whaats Up Lagos.

According to her, safety of lives on our roads for all is non negotiable.

"Your safety; who is responsible for it?" She inquired.

"Everyone is praying for better governance (to ensure good roads), but when it comes to the issue of safety, we (FRSC) can't look the other way.

"When it comes to the issue of bad roads, we need to make the government accountable, but when it comes to your safety, I have been empowered to make sure I enforce anything that can cause a crash."

However, while the law demands an arrest for vehicles that can risk the life of its driver and other road users, the Public Education Officer revealed it equally provides room for empathy on the part of the FRSC officials.

When and how does it come into play?

She explains more in the video.
