The Director of Strategic Communication and Media for the Obidient Movement, Nana Kazaure, has stated that the comment made by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpehbolo, about the planned visit of the Labour Party's 2023 Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, should not be dismissed as a genuine concern for Obi's security.

Kazaure, speaking on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire, described the governor's comment as not only political but also a direct threat to Obi's security. Over the weekend, Governor Okpehbolo had warned Obi against coming to Edo State without security clearance, linking him to recent violence in the state following a previous visit.

She further urged Governor Okpehbolo to apologise to Nigerians. According to her, the Obidient Movement is not just about Obi, but also about ordinary Nigerians whom Obi represents, and who felt their rights as citizens were violated by the governor's statement.

Kazaure also expressed disappointment that the Inspector General of Police and the National Security Adviser had not issued any statement condemning the governor's comment.

When asked about Obi’s supporters' reactions to his decision to join the 2027 coalition with the Alliance Democratic Congress (ADC), Kazaure confirmed that Obi’s base remains loyal. She emphasised that his supporters are ready to follow him wherever he leads, confident in his political choices for the 2027 elections.
