Super Eagles finished third at the last AFCON tournament
The race to reach next year's World Cup in Qatar may have begun on a winning note for the Super Eagles, but on the continent, head coach Gernot Rohr must first go one better than the third-place finish achieved at the 2019 AFCON tournament in Egypt.
This is the view of former Super Eagles player Mutiu Adepoju who gave this assertion in an exclusive interview on Game On.
Speaking with Femi and the Gang, the France 1998 World Cup goalscorer also revealed that such lofty feats can only be achieved if there's unity in the team as well as adequate preparation.
When quizzed on the possibility of Nigeria becoming the first African team to win the World Cup, Adepoju said it is "too early."
He said, "we just have to go step by step first."
