2023: How violence at community level can be prevented

Security analyst, Achinike Owhomka, has suggested that ahead of the 2023 elections, community leaders need to take measures that would mitigate any form of violence before, during and after the elections.

Mr Owhomka told Ifiemi Andrew on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire that the proactiveness of communities would allow for offences and the consequent rage to be nipped in the bud.

“…measures should be taken now that the violence has not started,” he noted.

He also said avenues should be created for people to express their emotions, as pent-up anger would lead to “reprisals”.

“…actions have to be taken instead of leaving things plain”, he suggested.
