Callers on Nigeria Info's Morning Crossfire with Ifiemi Andrew have reacted to the APC’s revised Presidential Campaign Council list, questioning why Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is not in charge of the party’s campaigns in the state.

In the list released on Tuesday, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike was appointed as the campaign coordinator for President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State and the FCT.

One caller commended the APC campaign council for appointing Wike as Rivers campaign chairman, saying the minister had performed beyond expectations in his political role in the country.

Another caller said Fubara allowed Wike to campaign across all local government areas during his administration, helping him regain his political strength and upper hand.

“Wike spent money. Don’t forget that the kind of power and money Fubara has as a governor, Wike does not have. But Fubara refused to use it,” the caller said.

She added that politics in Nigeria revolves around money and influence, arguing that the President should not be blamed for choosing Wike over Fubara. According to her, Fubara had “killed his political career”, and nobody wanted a "political liability".

A third caller said he was not surprised by the developments surrounding the APC campaign in Rivers State. He said Rivers people had learnt their lesson and were determined to resist any attempt by one person to dominate the state.

The caller added that Rivers people were irritated by the situation and would fight to ensure the country did not see them as timid or allow one person to take over the state “as emperor.”
