The spokesperson, United Community Development Committee, Harrison Nwosu provides insights into the challenges faced by the Chairmen of Community Development Committees (CDC) in promoting security and development within their communities.

Speaking on Nigeria Info's Morning Crossfire, Mr. Nwosu expressed concern about the limited access to funding, despite the provision for such funding in the local government by-laws.

He explained how community chairmen take additional measures to finance local vigilante groups to ensure the safety of their communities.

Mr. Nwosu attributed the funding inadequacy to the widespread influence of politics across various aspects of the state, including traditional institutions.

He added that needs assessments are not conducted before local government chairmen initiate developmental projects in the communities.

According to him, community chairmen are not adequately involved or consulted by the local government council in these initiatives.
