Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Obafemi Hamzat, has unveiled plans to reform transportation, housing, security and other sectors if elected governor in 2027.

Hamzat presented his “Promise Agenda” on Tuesday at an event organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Victoria Island, Lagos.

He described the plan as a social contract with residents, promising to begin implementation on May 29, 2027, if elected.

He said traffic congestion costs Lagos an estimated ₦1 trillion annually, with residents spending an average of four hours daily in traffic.

Hamzat promised to expand bus services, improve rail infrastructure and develop waterways to reduce pressure on roads.

He also pledged to improve ferry terminals linking communities such as Ikorodu and Badagry and plant 10 million trees within four years.

On housing, the APC candidate said his administration would work with private developers to increase the supply of affordable homes.

He also promised to explore mortgage arrangements that would help young people and low-income earners secure decent accommodation.

Hamzat said the state would recruit an additional 2,500 safety personnel, adding that the expanded workforce could provide a foundation for state policing if constitutional approval is secured.

He also promised to support small businesses, harmonise government levies and expand access to water for six million people through ongoing infrastructure projects.

On food security, Hamzat said the state was developing a 420-hectare food logistics hub and cold-chain network to reduce food waste and transport costs.

He also proposed a ₦500 billion guarantee scheme to support farmers.

The candidate said his agenda would have measurable targets to allow residents to assess his performance and hold his administration accountable.
