Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi have formally submitted their presidential nomination forms to the African Democratic Congress ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election.

The forms were submitted on Thursday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, officially confirming both politicians as contenders for the ADC presidential ticket.

Photos shared by both camps showed Atiku and Amaechi arriving separately at the secretariat to complete the submission process. The development marks a major step in the growing political realignment ahead of the 2027 election.

Earlier, the ADC confirmed that both politicians had obtained the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms, which reportedly cost ₦90 million.

ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi had confirmed the purchases, saying, “Yes, the three of them, Atiku, Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen, have obtained the forms.”

Another aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, also picked the forms and pledged to focus on security, jobs and the rising cost of living if elected.

The submissions by Atiku and Amaechi are expected to intensify political activities within the ADC as opposition figures continue consultations ahead of the election.

Atiku, who was the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate in 2019 and 2023, is seeking another shot at the presidency after leaving the PDP. Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, previously contested the APC presidential primary in 2022.
