Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal said Wednesday that his administration’s “rescue mission” is on track after inspecting several state projects in Shinkafi Local Government Area.

The governor visited the Women and Children Welfare Clinic (WCWC) Primary Healthcare Centre, the renovated General Hospital in Shinkafi town and the site of a new Referral Hospital.

The visits followed the launch of an empowerment programme by Hon. Bello Hassan, the member representing Shinkafi/Zurmi Federal Constituency, the governor’s office said.

About 2,000 people benefited from the empowerment, which distributed items that included luxury cars, tricycles, motorcycles and sewing machines, the statement added.

“We are in Shinkafi today to inspect numerous key projects of my administration and to launch the empowerment program of Honorable Bello Hasan, member representing Shinkafi/Zurmi constituency,” Governor Lawal said.

Lawal described the renovated hospital as transformed from an “abandoned hospital” into a facility with “state-of-the-art equipment capable of addressing the emergency needs of the people.”

He said the ongoing Referral Hospital “will be a game changer not only in Shinkafi LGA but also for the Zamfara North Senatorial Zone.

It will ease a significant burden for people battling illnesses who are seeking serious medical attention.”

The governor also said the state acquired the former Bafarawa Institute to house the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Zamfara State University.

“The school is undergoing serious work to complete it for effective utilisation,” he said.

Lawal commended Bello Hassan for the empowerment initiative and urged other stakeholders to “prioritise human development,” the spokesperson Sulaiman Bala Idris said in the release.
