ADC presidential ticket hopeful Peter Obi has condemned the killing of Nigerian soldiers, calling it a sign of deep security failure and urging a united political coalition to change the country’s direction.

Speaking on Arise Television, Obi said the deaths of senior military officers should trigger decisive national action.

“No nation will lose about 10 of its senior officers and will not declare war,” he said.

Obi warned that Nigeria’s growing insecurity is the result of years of poor governance, weak institutions and neglect of young people.

“What you are seeing is the cumulative effect of leadership failure over the years,” he said.

He said any government he leads would take firm and immediate action.

“I will be decisive. People will see it and feel it. I will not lead from the back,” Obi said.

Linking security concerns to politics ahead of the 2027 elections, Obi called for a united opposition to challenge the current administration.

“What Nigeria requires now is a coalition of people who are willing to sacrifice everything,” he said.

Obi added that the proposed coalition must focus on competence and national interest, not personal ambition.

“We must now get somebody who is committed to a future and a better Nigeria,” he said.

He also stressed that unity across regions and religions is key to solving Nigeria’s problems.

“We need a united and secure Nigeria,” Obi said.
