The Obidient Movement has rejected the outcome of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election held on 21st February 2026, describing it as a serious attack on democracy.

At a press conference on Monday, the group said the election was marred by voter suppression, intimidation and violence.

The movement supported the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Dr Moses Paul, also known as Dr Mo.

“We address you today with a heavy heart, filled with both profound disappointment and righteous anger,” the group said.

“The results… are not just a political setback; they are a brazen assault on the very foundations of our democracy.”

The group accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of contributing to voter apathy by changing polling units without proper notice.

It said many voters could not find where to vote, leading to what it described as a low turnout of about 7%.

The Obidient Movement also alleged that the declared victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was achieved through violence and intimidation, not votes.

“Our agents on the ground were systematically targeted,” the statement said.

The group said one of its agents, Musa Abubakar, was killed at the Gwagwa polling unit while trying to stop hoodlums from hijacking ballot boxes.

“Mr Musa’s death is not just a statistic,” the statement said.

“He was a husband, a father, a son, and a Nigerian who believed in a better future.”

The movement demanded a full review of the election and called on security agencies to arrest those responsible.

“This is no longer about one election,” it said.

“This is a fight for the soul of our nation.”
