The Osun State Government has called for an immediate investigation after Nigerian singer Adebayo Adeleke, known as B-Red, escaped what officials described as an assassination attempt in Osogbo.

The incident reportedly happened on 29th April 2026 near the Oke-Fia area of the state capital.

Authorities said the singer was attacked while moving through the city on a personal errand.

In a statement, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, said the government has asked security agencies to identify and prosecute those involved.

He described the incident as “a threat to the peace of Osun.”

B-Red explained how the situation unfolded.

He said, “I saw some Okada riders trying to surround my vehicle at a traffic point under Okefia Bridge.”

He added, “a white Toyota Venza approached us, with the occupants shouting, ‘It is him! It is him!’”

The singer said the encounter quickly turned into a chase.

“The Toyota Venza pursued us, trying to block my jeep,” he said, adding that several motorcycles joined in the pursuit.

He said he was able to escape after driving toward the Osun State Government House, where security personnel intervened.

The government said the attack must not go unpunished, stressing that those responsible should be arrested “regardless of political affiliation.”

Officials also warned that the incident raises concerns about safety and political tension in the state.

B-Red, who is the son of Governor Ademola Adeleke and cousin of singer Davido, was not injured in the incident.

Security agencies have begun investigations into the matter.
