The Confederation of African Football, on Wednesday, named its official Team of the Tournament for AFCON 2025, with Senegal and Morocco supplying most of the players and Nigeria claiming three places.

CAF’s Best XI places Édouard Mendy in goal and features a defence and midfield packed with Senegalese and Moroccan stars.

The attack is led by Sadio Mané of Senegal and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, while Ademola Lookman also made the team.

The selection reflects strong tournament showings by the two nations that reached the final.

Nigeria’s presence in the line-up — including Calvin Bassey in defence and forward Osimhen — rewards a squad that finished the competition with a bronze medal.

CAF said the picks recognise individual performance across the whole event, balancing goals, defensive work and influence on matches.

The awards come after a tense final in Rabat that ended with controversy.
