The Nigeria Police Force's Zone 2 Headquarters in Lagos has expressed grief over the death of Deputy Commissioner of Police Salihu Khan, describing him as a dedicated officer whose service left a lasting impact on the force.

In a statement signed by Zone 2 Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Afolayan Gbenga, Assistant Inspector-General of Police Olohundare Moshood Jimoh extended condolences to the Lagos State Police Command, the family of the deceased officer, and members of the police community.

Until his death, Khan served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Finance and Administration at the Lagos State Police Command.

Jimoh described the late officer as "an exceptionally dutiful, disciplined, and highly professional police officer" whose commitment to service, integrity and dedication to duty earned him respect across the force.

According to the AIG, Khan "embodied the finest ideals of policing and remained steadfast in the discharge of his responsibilities throughout his distinguished career."

The police chief said news of the officer's death came as "a rude shock" to colleagues and members of the force.

He added that the Nigeria Police Force had lost "a dependable administrator, a loyal colleague, and a committed public servant whose contributions to the growth and development of the Force will always be remembered."

Jimoh said officers and men of Zone 2 Command Headquarters joined Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the Lagos State Police Command, family members, friends and colleagues in mourning the deceased officer.

He also prayed for strength and comfort for Khan's family during the difficult period.

"While praying for strength and comfort for the bereaved family and the entire police family during this difficult period, AIG Olohundare Jimoh prays that Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, forgives the shortcomings of the departed officer and grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus," the statement said.

The police authorities said Khan's contributions to the force and his years of service would continue to be remembered by colleagues and those who worked closely with him.
