Fresh from a commanding Unity Cup victory over Jamaica, Nigeria’s Super Eagles have departed for Warsaw ahead of their international friendly against Poland as preparations continue for future competitions.

The three-time African champions sealed the 2026 Unity Cup title on Saturday with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Jamaica at The Valley Stadium in London.

Midfielder Alhassan Yusuf scored twice, while striker Terem Moffi added the third goal in a dominant display by Eric Chelle’s side.

Nigeria took the lead in the opening minutes through Yusuf before controlling much of the contest.

Moffi doubled the advantage after the break, while Yusuf completed his brace late in the game to seal what many observers described as a convincing win over the Reggae Boyz.

Head coach Eric Chelle praised the team’s attitude throughout the tournament and had earlier said the squad remained focused on maintaining high standards despite several changes to personnel.

Following the triumph, the team immediately shifted attention to Tuesday’s friendly against Poland in Warsaw.

The match is expected to provide another opportunity for Chelle to assess emerging players ahead of upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

Several fringe players impressed during the Unity Cup, including Femi Azeez, who scored twice against Zimbabwe in the semifinal and later provided an assist in the final.

His performances have strengthened his case for a regular place in the national team setup.

Nigeria remain unbeaten under Chelle in the competition and will be hoping to carry that momentum into the Poland clash before another high-profile friendly against Portugal later this month.
