Nigeria's Super Falcons have received a major boost ahead of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after all 25 invited players reported to the team's training camp in Casablanca.
The arrival of the final group of players completed Coach Justine Madugu's squad less than a week before Nigeria opens its campaign against Malawi.
The 10-time African champions are aiming to defend the continental title in Morocco after a hard-fought victory in the last edition.
Among the last players to join the squad were captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, forward Esther Okoronkwo and defender Michelle Alozie, giving the coaching crew a full complement of players for tactical preparations.
The Nigeria Football Federation had earlier confirmed that the team would use Casablanca as its training base before beginning its Group C campaign against Malawi.
The Super Falcons will also face Zambia and Egypt as they chase a record-extending continental title.
According to Sports Journalist Dr. Victor Ademola, the mood in camp is positive, with players settling into training as preparations enter the final phase.
"The camp is now complete with all 25 invited players in Casablanca, giving the technical crew the opportunity to work with the full squad ahead of the tournament," Dr. Ademola said.
The report added that the team's focus is firmly on building fitness, improving tactical understanding and strengthening team chemistry before the opening match.
Nigeria heads into the tournament as one of the favourites, having dominated women's football on the continent for decades. The expanded 16-team competition also serves as the qualification tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, adding further importance to the Super Falcons' campaign.
