A caller has raised concerns over the increase in mentally unstable individuals loitering in different locations in Port Harcourt.

Speaking on NigeriaInfo’s Hello Port Harcourt, he said the situation is alarming, stressing how they're found at every major junction, under almost every flyover across the state.

The caller pointed to the administration of former Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi as an example of effective intervention. According to him, Amaechi’s government renovated the Rumuigbo Neuropsychiatric Hospital, supplied medications, and organised teams to transport mentally unstable indigene to care facilities and non-indigene to their home states.

These efforts, the caller claimed, reduced loitering by 90%, significantly improving public safety in the state.

Speaking further, he called for an end to underage begging, describing it as a troubling trend that demands immediate government attention to protect vulnerable children. He appealed to the Rivers State government to urgently implement solutions to address these challenges.
