The Presidency has said the ongoing construction work at the Akpajo-Eleme Road is not as a result of the protest held on the road recently.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Ajuri Ngelale, said this on Hello Port Harcourt with Jude Omamegbe, while speaking about the infrastructural development of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration.

Jude had asked why it has taken so long for some federal roads in Rivers State to be fixed, and why it seemed like contractors were mobilized to site only after youths from the Ogoni axis blocked the Eleme-Akpajo Road in protest over the poor state of the road.

Mr Ngelale in his reply noted that "it is a very wrong assumption to make... that it was because of that particular protest action" work commenced on the road.
