Public policy analyst, Atiku Samuel, believes restructuring is already taking place in the country.

Public policy analyst, Atiku Samuel, has argued that it is more beneficial for State governments to collect Value Added Tax, VAT, instead of the Federal government.

Mr Samuel while speaking on Nigeria Info's Morning Crossfire, noted that if states use the VAT they collect from businesses "judiciously", it could have significant impact on social services and bring about development at the state level.

The policy analyst also discussed the implications of the court ruling empowering the Rivers State government and not the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, to collect VAT.
