The Police Service Commission (PSC) says it will deepen corporate governance reforms and leadership capacity in the public sector following a partnership push by the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) Nigeria.
PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (Rtd), gave the assurance Monday in Abuja when he received a CIoD delegation led by its Second Vice President, Alhaji Lamis S. Dikko, at the Solomon Arase Conference Hall, PSC headquarters.
The visit focused on strengthening institutional cooperation, improving transparency and accountability, and expanding governance training for public sector leaders.
Argungu said the PSC is shifting from traditional civil service practices toward stronger corporate governance standards.
“CIoD’s objectives align with our commitment to good governance and institutional reform,” he said.
“We are ready for a robust partnership, especially in training our executive and non-executive directors for optimal performance. We look forward to a continuous and better working relationship.”
He added that the collaboration would help improve efficiency, professionalism, and accountability within the commission.
The CIoD delegation said the institute is committed to supporting governance reforms through capacity building and leadership development across public institutions.
Both parties agreed to explore structured training programmes and long-term collaboration aimed at strengthening governance systems in Nigeria’s public sector.
