Social media has been raging since the news broke out that former Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice Ekweremadu were arrested and charged for alleged organ harvesting of a minor in the UK.

Even though the case has been adjourned to 7 July, with Senator Ekweremadu and his wife remanded in UK custody, Nigerians have been talking about it.

Senator Ekweremadu is accused of trafficking a 15-year-old to the Uk, so that the minor's organ can be harvested and transplanted to the politician's daughter who suffers from kidney failure.

But some supporters of the Senator argue the supposed donor is 21.

A letter has also been circulated online showing that the former Deputy President of the Senate wrote to the British High Commission in Nigeria notifying it of the visa application of the donor.

There has been no official statement from the Ekweremadus, but the Senator's media aide, Uche Anichukwu, told Nigeria Info's National Assembly correspondent that he needs time to get the fact out.

In the meantime, some politicians back home have shown support for Senator Ekweremadu.
