Day 3 at Flushing Meadows delivered the full spectrum of late-night finishes, star power, and scoreboard stress for home fans.

Alexander Zverev closed the Ashe night session past Alejandro Tabilo in straights 6–2, 7–6(4), 6–4, booking a Round 2 date with Britain’s Jacob Fearnley. The third seed defeated the Chilean’s shot-making and kept his composure in a tense second-set breaker.

Coco Gauff needed all three sets and plenty of grit to edge Ajla Tomljanovic 6–4, 6–7(2), 7–5, in a drama-filled opener that tested her revamped serve under Ashe lights.

Under the lights and in a sparkling red fit, Naomi Osaka brushed aside Greet Minnen 6–3, 6–4 and moves on to face Hailey Baptiste.

During the day, world no. 2 Iga Swiątek was businesslike against Emiliana Arango, winning 6–1, 6–2 to set up Suzan Lamens next. Defending champion and world no. 1 Jannik Sinner looked ruthless, dispatching Vit Kopřiva 6–1, 6–1, 6–2; Alexei Popyrin awaits in Round 2.

World no. 3, Germany’s Alexander Zverev 0marched on with a dominant 6–2, 7-6, 6–4 victory against Alejandro Tabilo, setting up a second-round showdown with rising British qualifier Jacob Fearnley.
