The Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State has foiled an attempt by suspected criminals to bomb government facilities, arresting six suspects during the operation.

Police said the suspects were planning coordinated attacks using improvised explosive devices (IEDs) before they were intercepted.

Spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami, said the operation was based on intelligence gathering.

“We received credible intelligence about plans to attack government infrastructure, and our operatives acted swiftly,” she said.

According to the police, the suspects were arrested with materials believed to be used for making explosives.

Odunlami said the timely intervention prevented what could have caused serious damage and loss of lives.

“The suspects were apprehended before they could carry out their planned attacks,” she said.

She added that investigations are ongoing to uncover other members of the group and their possible sponsors.

Security agencies have increased surveillance across key locations in the state following the incident.

Police authorities also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

“We call on members of the public to continue to support the police with useful information,” Odunlami said.

Ondo State has witnessed several security threats in recent months, including attacks involving explosives and armed groups.

Experts say the latest incident highlights growing concerns about the use of IEDs in different parts of Nigeria.

However, police insist that proactive intelligence and quick response are helping to prevent major attacks.

Officials say efforts are ongoing to strengthen security and ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.
