Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal on Friday launched a 10-year development plan aimed at transforming the state’s economy, infrastructure, and social sectors.

The plan, covering 2025 to 2034, was unveiled at the JB Yakubu Secretariat in Gusau. Governor Lawal described it as a “long-term, evidence-based roadmap” reflecting the people’s aspirations and collective goal for development.

According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, KPMG Advisory served as lead consultant, working with members of the Zamfara Executive Council, traditional rulers, and religious leaders over eight months to develop the plan.

The plan aligns with national and global frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals, Nigeria’s National Development Plan 2050, and the African Union Agenda 2063. It outlines six pillars: economy, infrastructure, social welfare, human capital, governance, and environmental sustainability.

Governor Lawal said the plan will leverage Zamfara’s strengths in agriculture and natural resources, with support from partnerships such as the Ministry of Finance and African Development Bank, to boost mechanized farming, agro-processing, and job creation, while improving food security and reducing poverty-driven insecurity.

“This plan is not merely a dream; we are preparing to deliver,” he said, emphasizing transparency, measurable outcomes, and a monitoring framework to ensure accountability.

Officials present included the Secretary to the State Government, Mallam Abubakar Nakwada; Chief of Staff Mukhtar Lugga; and Commissioner for Budget and Planning Abdulmalik Abubakar Gajam.
